IMMERSIVE SPACES
Urban Embrace
Thesis Prompt: Authenticity
In my thesis project, authenticity is explored through emotional connection and intimacy. In a bustling city like New York where the culture of busyness has become a status symbol, it is easier for people to go about their business than to make time for meaningful connections. Urban Embrace is an installation and immersive experience that sets the stage for people to connect and interact with one another. This project aims to break the stigma and sense of shame around loneliness, estrangement, and alienation while challenging conventional ways of finding companionship and like-minded people.
The space consists of various inflatable bubbles where different types of conversation pits are located.
When entering the space, individuals may choose to participate in group interactions and/or 1-on-1 interactions.
